Lync Server 2010 Mobility role setup components fails with: “Prerequisite not satisfied: Message Queuing Server (MSMQ) and Message Queuing Directory Service Integration must be installed before attempting to install this product. MSMQ must not be in workgroup operation mode.”

I have just been setting up a clients Enterprise Deployment for Mobility when I recieved this error when I ran the bootstrapper.exe:

Prerequisite not satisfied: Message Queuing Server (MSMQ) and Message Queuing Directory Service Integration must be installed before attempting to install this product. MSMQ must not be in workgroup operation mode.

Check the features you have installed to ensure MSMQ hasnt been missed.

As shown in the screenshot above, the Directory Service Integration checkbox was indeed unchecked.  To get past the error, proceed with the following:

  1. Installing the Directory Service Integration component.
  2. Restarting the server.

What was interesting was that we were not asked to reboot the server when the installation of the Directory Service Integration component completed but when we ran the component setup again, it would fail with the same error.

Hope this helps anyone out there that may have missed that component.
